Today would have been my Dad’s 97th birthday. Dad was a devoted Catholic who not only went to Mass every Sunday, but also to Monday night Novenas. He was an imposing man; he also was an extremely caring, gentle father who thought he never did enough for his children. All of us now-grown kids disagree!

I still carry a little piece of scrap paper my Dad gave me with a great deal of serious ceremony more than 20 years ago. It’s labeled “The 7 Magical Seals of the Angels;” on the back my Dad wrote, “Carry this with you every day for protection.”

So I do.

I don’t really understand the whole thing, but Wikipedia tells me that each of seven Archangels is associated with a day of the week and a planet (or, more correctly, a celestial body). And my scrap of paper shows that each angel has his own special seal. I found this larger set of seals on Wikimedia; the seven seals on my paper are each in the lower right of each trigram of seals in the image.

Today’s Qudoku puzzle will test your Word Sudoku-solving ability, because the quote grid is not a quote or saying you’re going to be able to figure out: it’s a table! It contains the name of each Archangel and associated planet and weekday. Good luck!
