The 2013 Pulitzer Prizes will be awarded Thursday, May 30. In honor of this prestigious event, in the days leading up to the awards presentation I will present you a series of quotes from the newspaper magnate these awards are named for: Joseph Pulitzer.

Pulitzer had lots to say about the value of a free press in a democracy—and the responsibility of a free press to the citizens of that democracy.
