Extra (Top 10) Word Sudoku Puzzle for 1/10/2012

from Wordle.net

On the tenth of every month, I’ll present you what can best be described as a “Top 10” list, although not every list will be 10 items long. For instance, in April, I’ll present a list of a dozen unusual words; in October, nine common superstitions, and in July, eight words children had to spell in the 2011 National Spelling Bee. In August, I’ll present nine rock stars’ real names; and in June, nine overused business and marketing adjectives.

Most of these lists can be presented in one Qudoku puzzle set, the name I coined for a combination of a quote and one or more Word Sudoku puzzles. Solve the Sudoku puzzles the normal way; copy numbered letters into the corresponding cells of the quote grid to unveil the quote—or in this case, list! But for this month and next, it takes more than one Qudoku puzzle set to enumerate the list. So instead of one extra puzzle set today, I’ll present you five over the next few days. This first installment of a “Top 10” Word Sudoku puzzle enumerates the 10 middle-class jobs that will vanish in the next five or so years.

Last July, Christian Hudspeth wrote an article titled "10 Middle-class jobs that will vanish by 2018” on the InvestingAnswers website (www.investinganswers.com, with the mission “to help individual investors build and protect their wealth by providing a comprehensive and 100% free educational website.”).

Hudspeth explains how and why a number of commonplace jobs will be extinct pretty darn soon. As Hudspeth puts it, people in these particular job classifications could soon join the milk man, telegraph operator and stagecoach driver…not a pleasant thought! But who was it that said new technology creates progress through destruction?

Hudspeth’s full article is worth reading; find it online at http://www.investinganswers.com/a/10-middle-class-jobs-will-vanish-2018-3037. But wait until you’ve solved the Qudoku puzzles today through Tuesday! It obviously contains the answers.

Today’s extra puzzle sets list vanishing jobs number 10 through 7, as we count it down…
