Extra (Top 10) Word Sudoku Puzzle for 9/10/2012

(Wordle.net)

This month’s “Top 10” Qudoku puzzle is only eight items long, and challenges you to unveil jargon whose time has passed.

We last heard from writer and editor Laura Hale Brockway, ELS, in April, when you solved a “Top 10” Qudoku puzzle set consisting of part of her list of words that describe words. This month, you’ll solve two Qudoku sets to unveil eight clichéd, now-meaningless business terms. Hale Brockway writes the Impertinent Remarks blog at http://impertinentremarks.com. Her suggestion of a ‘Word Quest’ game with 16 examples of jargon is at http://www.prdaily.com/Main/Articles/Put_that_jargon_to_good_useplay_Word_Quest_at_your_9866.aspx.

New Word Sudoku (Swifty Sudoku!) Puzzles for Saturday, 9/8/2012

Perhaps I will," said Tom with all his might.
A Tom Swifty is an adverbial pun that simultaneously describes a speaker and refers to the speaker's statement. The name comes from the Tom Swift book series for young readers. The authors were roundly criticized for overusing adverbs and descriptive phrases, so that Tom hardly ever said "said" and rarely said anything without a qualifying adverb. A Tom Swifty pun is a parody of this style that will make you groan out loud.

Tom is away today.
