New Word Sudoku Puzzle for Monday, 12/21/2009

Today is the winter solstice, marking the shortest day and longest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. In astronomical terms, when the Sun's position in the sky is at its greatest angular distance on the other side of the equatorial plane from the observer's hemisphere. The Sun appears at its lowest point in the sky. The word ‘solstice’ comes from the Latin sol, ‘sun’, and stitum or sistere, ‘stoppage’ or ‘standstill.’ From today until summer, days grow longer and nights shorter.
