Be part of a life changing experience"
On the first Sunday of the month all year long, I’ll highlight a cause or celebration that encompasses the entire month. March is American Red Cross Month. The Presidential proclamation made every year since 1943 honors and thanks the members of the Red Cross family and reminds us that the American Red Cross makes a difference every day in communities around the world.
Since its founding in 1881 by American teacher, nurse and humanitarian Clarissa Barton, the American Red Cross has been the nation's premier emergency response organization, offering humanitarian care to the victims of war and natural disasters alike. Almost three quarters of a million volunteers join Red Cross employees in 700 locally supported chapters to help victims of an astounding 70 thousand disasters a year, according to the Red Cross Web site, http://www.redcross.org/.
