Extra Word Sudoku (Qudoku!) Puzzles for Monday, 1/13/2014

It isn’t what you know that counts; it’s how efficiently you can refresh.”
—Dr. Samuel Arbesman, “A half-life of facts”

On the second Monday of each month in 2014, I’ll present you with a few extra Qudoku—Quotable Sudoku—puzzles presenting quotes from interesting people or on interesting topics.

Dr. Samuel Arbesman is an applied mathematician, network scientist, Fellow at a Harvard institute, and author of “The half-life of facts: Why everything we know has an expiration date” (Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/The-Half-life-Facts-Everything-Expiration/dp/159184472X), a book about how knowledge changes over time.

For two quick examples, I grew up believing there was a dinosaur named Brontosaurus and Pluto was a planet.

Arbesman studies the science of science—perhaps a counter-intuitive world, but one where, like any good science, things can be measured, including how knowledge in a scientific field changes over time.

It’s a fascinating read. I highly recommend it. I present you two quotes from Arbesman’s book that provide us some guidance on how to keep current in today’s sea of (changing) information.
