New Word Sudoku Puzzle for Friday, 6/19/2009

Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, commemorates the announcement of the abolition of slavery in Texas. The term is a portmanteau of June and nineteenth, and is an official annual holiday in at least 29 U.S. states.

On June 19, 1865, Union General Gordon Granger rode into Galveston, Texas, to tell residents that the Civil War had ended two months earlier. Two and a half years after Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation, Granger's arrival finally freed the last 250,000 slaves.

Here’s an excerpt from Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation.
