Extra Word Sudoku Puzzles for Wednesday, 5/27/2009: Constant Consonants

How many words can you think of that contain the listed consonants, in order, and include no other consonants?

Karen Richards poses this “Constant Consonants” question a couple Mondays each month in her puzzle blog http://puzzlebits.wordpress.com/. Please visit her blog for full rules and other great puzzles.

I first try to solve Karen's puzzles—not at all easy! Then I make Word Sudoku puzzles out of some of the (hopefully correct) answers I found. Here are two Qudoku puzzle sets supplying letters to spell out eight of the longest answers and eight of the shortest answers I found for the “Constant Consonants” MTR, the puzzle Karen posted Monday, 5/25/2009. Notice that one of the words in the anagram for each puzzle also fits the definition of an MTR Constant Consonants word!

YO, I MATURE!
9x9 Constant Consonants Word Sudoku: MTR
Each row, column, 3x3 square and the set of circled letters contains the letters in the anagram exactly once
Copy circled letters to the corresponding numbered cell in the quote grid to spell out the "Constant Consonants" MTR words

O, I MATURE!
8x8 Constant Consonants Word Sudoku: MTR
Each row, column, 2x4 rectangle and the set of circled letters contains the letters in the anagram exactly once
Copy circled letters to the corresponding numbered cell in the quote grid to spell out the "Constant Consonants" MTR words

Solutions in the morning. Please visit Karen Richards' puzzle blog http://puzzlebits.wordpress.com/ for the complete Constant Consonants rules, and many other brainteasers, as well.

Thanks,
--Dave
