For the next few days, we’re spelling out quotes from this week’s inauguration and from past inaugurations—the best speeches, containing pithy, memorable statements that have stood the test of time. Today’s Inaugural Qudoku puzzle quote comes from President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1933.
Heather Whipps, LiveScience’s History Columnist, published an article last week entitled “The Best Inaugural Addresses Ever.” See it at http://www.livescience.com/history/090115-best-inaugurals.html. She points out that Roosevelt’s 1933 inaugural address came in the middle of the Great Depression; while he acknowledged the dire situation, he exhorted Americans to have confidence in their country and its ultimate strength. Sound familiar?
